Ambrotype of a Victorian Pedlar
Jennifer Carnell's Victorian Photograph Collection

A quarter plate ambrotype of an elderly lady who may have been a pedlar or hawker.

The picture has clearly never been in a case (which would have been an added expense for the sitter) and there is loss to the black coating on the back - but with some black card put behind the image it can be see clearly again. The ground is cobbled and she is posed against a propped-up scenic backdrop. The picture may have been taken in Yorkshire.
