Maurice Farkoa was born in Smyrna (now called Izmir in modern day Turkey.
He became a famous actor and singer in London, starring in productions at
the Gaiety Theatre from 1892. Today he is best remembered for his 'Laughing'
song. He also toured America and Australia in the early 1900s, before returning
once more to the London stage.
