The picture above shows the first page of the first issue of the Halfpenny Journal, published on Monday 1 July 1861. The magazine ran for several years.

George Vickers published at the same time a number of other publications aimed at the reader of the Halfpenny Journal. Among these included a penny part work of Grimms' Goblins by the Brothers Grimm.
