British Tinted 1850s Half Plate Daguerreotype
Of Sabina Hathaway

The daguerreotype was taken in 1854 and has an inscription by the photographer.
'Sabina Hathaway.
Aged 12
January 18th 1854
J.B.'
It has a sky background, which is the same colour as the dress, and it's not as subtle as some photographers.

Sabina Hathaway lived with her parents, Thomas Hathaway and Mary Ann Hathaway, at the Unicorn Inn, Market Place, Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The photographer may have been a travelling photographer who was staying at the inn.
Sabina married William Potts, the son of the owner of the Banbury Guardian newspaper, in 1860, and died at the early age of 24 in 1866.
