The action takes place in Miss Braddon's study in Lichfield House, Richmond, Autumn 1895, late evening.

First seen at The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond, Secrets and Rumours tells the intriguing story of Mary Elizabeth Braddon, a literary super-star of the Victorian era. The writer of over 80 books, she is credited with helping to create the 'sensation' novel, but is now best remembered as the author of Lady Audley's Secret. Despite her later success Braddon's early life was littered with secrets and rumours which if fully revealed would have destroyed her reputation both as a respected writer and as as a society figure.

Secrets and Rumours explores the tangled web of hidden scandals that Braddon tried so hard to keep from her adoring public.

Sabina Franklyn as Mary Braddon is 'Breathtaking' (Richmond & Twickenham Times).
