ANNESLEY BANK
LYNDHURST, THE NEW FOREST

A postcard (circa 1900) showing the approach into the village of Bank from the Lyndhurst Road. Nearly all of the properties in Bank were built by Mary Braddon and John Maxwell.

'Miss Braddon's Cottage at Lyndhurst.'
The house was small to begin with, but was extended over the years.

Postcard sent from Lyndhurst in 1904.

A colour version of the postcard.

Annesley Bank later became a Barnardo's home for children. By coincidence, Braddon was a contributing writer for a book published to raise money for the National Barnardo Memorial Fund. Tales for the Homes was published in 1907, and Dr. Barnardo is pictured on the cover.
