Ambrotype of Ranulph Charles Lee

An inscription on the reverse of the photograph reads:
'Ranulph C. Lee Esq. 35th Regiment.
1855. Ken on the table.'

Captain Ranulph C. Lee was born at sea in about 1830. His parents were Robert
Newton Lee (who had served in the 2nd Ceylon Regiment) and Anna Maria Lee.
Ranulph joined the Royal Sussex Regiment of Foot in 1849 and was made a Captain
in 1857. In 1857 he was awarded the Indian Mutiny medal.
He remained in India and became a fruit grower in the Kullu Valley.
