Ambrotype of Viscount Hinton, the Colonel of the Somerset Militia
|
Vere Poulett, Viscount Hinton (1822-1857) was the son of John Poulett,
the 5th Earl Poulett, and Charlotte (nee Portman).
The family lived at Hinton House in Hinton, Somerset.
He died on 29 August 1857 age 35 at the family's London home in Dover Street,
Piccadilly. He was the third of the Earl's sons to die and the earldom passed
to a nephew.
The relative flatness of the 9th plate ambrotype and the date on the back
of 1858 would suggest this is a copy of an earlier image and then given to
friends or relatives.
