A piece of paper handwritten by the photographer at the back reveals where
and when it was taken:
'Taken by A. Grant, Kirkcaldy, August 1858'.
Alexander Ness Grant (born in Cupar, c.1818) was a bookseller and binder in
Hill Place in 1851 and was at 274 High Street, Kirkcaldy in 1861.
