Alice Elizabeth Sankey

An Ambrotype by Thomas J. Barnes

A ninth plate ambrotype, taken in about 1860.

Alice Sankey was born in Canterbury in 1844, the daughter of Church minister Philip Sankey and his wife Elizabeth Ann Sankey.
In 1870 she married a commercial clerk called Charles Richards.

The back of the photograph has the photographer's trade card which reads:
'Thomas J. Barnes, Photographer, Hope Place, Mile End Road, Near the Jews Burial Ground.'
